Ack, so the moving stress is real. Afterall, how many more days do I have… 4? 5? Any minute now, this “in the zone” mentality is going to hit me and I’ll be doing the last of my packing in a furious, possessed state. I have to go through the crap in the bathroom, go through my files, start packing clothes… once I enter that state, I’ll probably have this cyborg-like stare until my U-Haul truck is safely across the border, my mounds of stuff carried into my new home one by one. Once all that is done… I’ll probably crash out, crack open a beer, and enjoy it on my new front porch.
I know I’m going to love it there… but so damned tedious and complicated getting myself (and all my stuff) there.
Anyway, next time you hear from me, it’ll probably be from Ohio. Everyone, take care.

me and Laura went through something like seven house moves in less than six years: luckily it’s been a while since the last one. it’s stressful, every time you are supposed to just pack things what really happens is you spend your time actually re-living your emotional bonds to objects you may have forgotten in the meantime, popping out from who knows where just inside the second drawer you go through: afternoons flying away, actually, with you in a reverie and boxes remaining empty…
it’s sort of a painful process, but i think it’s needed from time to time: life seems to call for it. sort of defragmenting your mental space. and now if we were only so lucky, to be able to reboot and find ourselves in the new place effortlessly at the next startup!
keep strong. don’t eeeeeek! when the move is tomorrow and half of the stuff is still scattered all over a place that’s going to be your old one in a while. a house move is really like a tetris game. the only way you have to make it all fits is really letting everything flows as it musts
